Cadplan Consultants Limited was tasked by KUSCCO to design a modern office building in Mombasa that harmoniously blends with the Swahili architectural context and responds effectively to the local climate. Embracing this challenge, we designed a 12-storey office block that embodies sustainability and cultural relevance.
Our design incorporates traditional Swahili elements, such as mashrabiya screens, which provide natural ventilation while offering privacy and aesthetic appeal. These intricate screens, combined with horizontal sun shading elements, minimize heat gain and reduce the need for artificial cooling, enhancing the building’s energy efficiency.
The KUSCCO Office Block stands as a testament to Cadplan’s commitment to sustainable architecture. By integrating these passive cooling strategies, we ensured that the building remains comfortable year-round, despite Mombasa’s tropical climate. The structure’s design not only meets modern office requirements but also respects and reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Through thoughtful planning and innovative design solutions, Cadplan Consultants Limited delivered an office building that is both functional and environmentally responsible. The KUSCCO Office Block sets a new standard for office architecture in Mombasa, showcasing our ability to blend contemporary design with traditional influences and sustainability principles.
